FORENSIC ACCOUNTING EXPERT REPORTS

Pentagon Corporate is often engaged to provide expert reports for litigation and court proceedings. We are engaged either as a forensic single expert, forensic joint expert or as a forensic shadow expert. All of our reports are conducted as independent engagements, where we are either provided specific instructions or asked to provide a report of our findings and assessments, based on the documents and facts provided. Our services are provided for a range of litigation matters, including mediation, tribunals, Magistrates Courts, Federal Courts, and Supreme Courts.

Our expert reports are used in range of matters such as family law disputes, shareholder disputes, company & commercial disputes, commercial litigation, damages & economic loss quantification and personal injury claims. We are engaged by the instructing solicitor and often work to very tight timetables to fit in with the requirements of the case and the court mandated timetable. We liaise with counsel / the barrister as requested and where there the opposing side has their own expert report, we may be asked to critique it and participate in a joint conference of experts. 

In addition to forensic accounting expert reports, our reports may be referred to as forensic reports, forensic accounting reports, expert accounting reports, expert forensic reports, forensic accounting business valuation reports, forensic accounting expert witness reports, forensic investigation reports or simply expert reports.  In some occasions, our reports have a more specific purpose such as a critique of another expert report or a (forensic) findings report. 

CONTENT OF OUR FORENSIC EXPERT REPORTS

Forensic Expert reports are fit for purpose and are tailored to the instructions provided and the case at hand. 

Irrespective of the nature of the matter or how it is referred to, our reports generally have three different purposes.

The first category involves an assessment of a business value.

The second category is an assessment of value other than a business, such as the value of a future earnings stream or future loss of earnings (such as personal injury or breach of contract / copyright).

The third category is a findings report as it is more unique and tailored to the facts at hand and instructions, but broadly includes assessing documents & facts and forming a view, based on analysis and calculations.

Our reports are completely tailored to the instructions and task at hand, whereby no two reports are the same or follow a standard template. We do however follow best practice for each engagement, both in terms of complying with APES 215 ‘Forensic Accounting Services’ and other Expert Witness codes as well as our internal checklists and best practice techniques. This includes, but is not limited to ensuring that the reports directly address the specific requirements of our letter of instruction, are extremely well written and structured as well as document all of our assumptions, justifications and limitations (if applicable).
